The Clockwork Harlequin

At rest, it is very difficult to discern the purpose of The Clockwork Harlequin. Her pose, and expression appear on the surface to be peaceful and serene. However, she IS wearing a mask. I wonder what's behind it. Is her intent mirthful or malicious? And what about the crystals that surround her winding key? Do they provide it with some sort of power, or do they protect against anyone who might be foolish enough to set her in motion? It seems awfully tempting to wind her up . . . I mean the key is right there. What's the worst that could happen? She'll probably just do a few backflips, right? Maybe a hand stand? Still, I have to wonder what those crystals are for. . . and is she wearing a hat, or are those horns? Now that I look at them, they look more like horns. Hmmmm, I wonder what's under that mask . . .
